Half-Day Retreat on Doubt and Faith

On the first Saturday between Jesus' crucifixion (Good Friday) and Jesus' resurrection (Easter Sunday), it was not looking good for followers of Christ. Their faith in Jesus had fallen apart. So on this Saturday, we're going to give our attention to experiences of doubt and lament in our own lives.

About the Event

Is it ok to have doubts?

What do I do with the heavy things I lament?

How does God respond to our doubts and lamentswith love, truth, and presence?

Our guided retreat will include the following:

-Discussing ways that doubt is integral to the biblical picture of following Jesus

-Sharing our own questions and reflecting on where we are in our faith journey

-Lamenting the challenges that we are facing

-Considering the interplay between doubt and lament and how God might be responding to us

We are making space to focus on our doubts and laments. No question is off limits. No doubt is unholy. Our goal is to be a courageous space where we can honestly reflect on faith. We will not tie everything up in a nice bow and solve every issue, but we will consider what God might be doing in the midst of our doubts and lament process.

This half-day retreat is part of our retreat rhythm this year. Because we've experienced the health of pausing our normal activities and giving our full attention to listen to God and seek him, we pull away for half days, weekends in small groups, and weekends in large all-church retreats.

You do not have to be a Christian or an active part of FBC to attend. Everyone is welcome.
