College Life Winter Retreat: Scripture Style

College Life is getting away to learn life-defining skills for reading Scripture. We hope you join us! 

WHY: We love retreats! They are part of our quarterly rhythm because they're where relationships grow, meals are shared, memories are made, and moments of with God are experienced. And this retreat will be way better if you're on it!

WHAT: College Life's mission is to help college students become complete and equipped agents of King Jesus. We want to see all students flourish. A positive relationship with the library of Scriptures we call The Bible, is absolutely essential to becoming this kind of flourishing student who soars with joy during college and post-graduation. The only problem is that reading the Scriptures can leave us feeling anything but joy. Often, they can leave us feeling confused, frustrated, scandalized, and discouraged. Because lots of people don't like feeling badly about themselves -- especially about something so important -- we can make it a habit to avoid these essential texts. This retreat is a chance to be honest about the difficulty of reading the Scriptures and "getting something out of it". This retreat is also a chance to learn the skills and accumulate the tools which can demystify the process for you, and can set you up to have a lifelong relationship with these texts so you can let them infuse your world with truth and beauty.

Here's what you can expect about how we'll spend our time:

(1) We will spend sessions learning about Scripture Skills, and lots of time practicing Scripture Skills.  

(2) We will gather in small groups and large groups to debrief.

(3) We will worship together through singing and prayer.

(4) We will eat great amounts of good food.

(5) We will encourage each other.

(6) We will have wild amounts of fun playing in the snow and enjoying beauty.
